Developer/Trader for Systematic High Frequency Equities Trading opportunity at hedge fund client

Well funded, global equity arbitrage fund seeks an individual with strong programming skills and a passion for trading to work closely with senior staff. The individual will be responsible for executing trades via our equities trading system as well as improving the strategy and trading technology. The position involves proprietary trading but does not involve discretionary equities trading.
Responsibilities will include:
Learn how to use and maintain the trading system. Modify configurations to meet trading requirements. Maintain consistency of installations between the global equities markets Help other traders to generate scripts for the system Perform regression testing of new software releases Assist in writing daily maintenance scripts/programs. Execute equities trades on multiple exchanges and via ECNs. Trade reconciliation and other middle office functions
We require
a graduate degree in computer science or engineering from a top university strong programming skills in PERL, C++ and/or Java on a UNIX platform strong verbal and written communication skills a high degree of self-motivation detail-orientation a hands-on attitude willingness to work as part of a team 1-4 years of experience building technology in a professional business environment
We prefer to see 1-4 years of financial industry experience. If the candidate does not have financial industry experience, we expect to see strong, tangible evidence of a personal interest in finance and trading.
