The Investment Products Group develops the Aladdin® trading and risk management system, which is used both internally at BlackRock, and by BlackRock Solutions customers to manage in excess of $5 trillion in financial assets. The Product Group uses the latest technologies to design and develop applications that make up the firm’s investment management platform. The systems support the full lifecycle of the investment management process, from quantitative risk management to order entry, trade routing and settlement.
Technologies used include sophisticated web services, Java applications, and C++ servers, tied together over a real-time messaging system and connected to a large and highly complex database. Analysts join small teams that develop specific parts of the firm’s investment management platform, working closely with senior developers and managers, and are expected to become intimately familiar with the financial products and investment management business, regardless of whether their focus is software development or business analysis.
Role Description: BlackRock Solutions team members, and delivering products that are aligned with business and technology strategies. The individual will work closely with development staff and the development manager throughout the software development lifecycle. The candidate will ideally have a financial technology background with particular expertise and experience in securities trading and will have managed large scale global enterprise solutions. Responsibilities: Preparation of business cases or “Vision Documents” for potential projects Gathering and documenting requirements from business users for new interface and application functionality Preparation of technical specifications for development. Constructing and executing or coordinating execution of unit and UAT Preparation of release notes for developed functionalit. Coordinate and organize all steps of the release process Performing process re-engineering Preparation of weekly and monthly matrixes on the team’s development and support activities
Skills and Qualifications: 2-5 years experience as a Business Analyst or Project Manager in financial services, operations, technology or finance unit. 4-year degree in any of the following areas: Accounting, Finance Operations Management Computer Science. Masters, CPA is a plus. Candidate should have strong educational background and also have proven track record of strong project management. We seek executive level communications skills, verbal and written. Candidate will need strong networking and collaboration skills. Candidate will be required to quickly establish lateral power base within organization and be able to initiate projects and work well with peers. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with business people, resolve conflicts, bring various functional groups together to successful resolution of contentious issues.
