The Global Capital Markets unit of Scotia Capital has derivative, fixed income, equity, foreign exchange and precious metals sales and trading operations in Toronto, New York, Mexico, London and the Far East.
Financial Engineering and Infrastructure Management group is part of Global Capital Markets and is located on the trade floor in Toronto. We work closely with the trading and marketing desks to develop new product or specific transaction capability, which includes leading infrastructure projects for new business initiatives, as well as developing financial models, hedging strategies and analytics. Our business coverage includes Credit, Equity, Energy and Interest Rate Derivatives, as well as Funding, Fixed Income, Equity, Equity Finance, Precious Metals and Foreign Exchange desks globally. The environment is very dynamic and the group is very team and results oriented.
The successful candidate will be primarily working with the Energy Derivatives business line. The role involves working closely with the Energy sales and trading staff, as well as the other members of the Financial Engineering and Infrastructure Management team, to build analytical tools and prototype processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the front office trading operations.
Position Responsibilities
Develop daily risk and other analytic process to be used by the Energy trading desks
Develop pricing tools for the Energy trading and sales desks.
Provide support to the trading desk on various issues such as valuation and data
Provide analytic content in pricing and risk of complex products
Position Qualifications
Strong computer skills – C++, VBA, SQL, MS Access, Excel and Unix
Knowledge in capital market products and related risk management practices.
Experience in energy derivatives an asset.
Strong analytic and problem solving skills
Attention to detail, implementation orientation
Ability to make progress on multiple projects at the same time
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
Education Qualifications: Master degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Mathematic Finance preferred
