Position Summary: The Systems Engineer will share responsibilities in a variety of technological areas centered on configuration and administration of Red Hat Linux and clustered Windows 2003 based servers as well as EMC NAS storage devices and their associated application components. Additionally this position will be actively involved in installation, configuration and administration of Microsoft SQL Server, including assisting in the migration of several SQL Server 2000 installations to 2005. The role also includes configuring and managing Active Directory user/group rights and enforcing security policies.
The Systems Engineer will provide technical support and guidance to end-users including hardware and software troubleshooting and will coordinate vendor and third-party maintenance for network connectivity, software support, and telecommunications services.
The position will be part of a team participating in 24/7 support schedules as necessary.
Responsibilities would include:
Servers Configure, administer and optimize Linux and Windows 2003 server operating systems and related components and system level software packages. Interface to server support groups. Contribute to server planning and hardware/software deployments such as version control and issues tracking packages Application Support Install, maintain and support financial trading applications and interface to 3rd party vendors and trading partners SQL Able to install, configure, upgrade and tune the databases of different SQL Server versions; administer users/groups, backups and database replication. Storage Administer and optimize enterprise storage solutions and storage management software packages and data replication. Active Directory User/group administration, message server account setup, group policy configuration to manage/enforce security Contingency Planning Help implement, monitor and adjust the system backup procedures to ensure that the corporation's data and computer systems are recoverable. Involves maintaining and testing business continuance strategies and procedures; recommend and implement security structures necessary to protect the corporation's system resources from misuse User Support Assist in providing technical assistance and support to users of the corporation's computing environment, including desktop/laptop, printer, blackberry and phone systems support
Position requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or the equivalent with five or more years of experience in a systems integration environment, 3+ years of solid database administration experience. Excellent interpersonal skills.
