Associate level position supporting the financial control of a leading energy generation & trading firm.
Responsibilities:
Monitor daily trading activity in the various hedge books and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
Monitor hedging activity against the forecasted generation to ensure compliance with FAS 133.
Support accounting activities in Boston, including analysis and accounting treatment of trading and origination activities.
Work with Asset Management group to ensure the accounting follows the hedging strategy.
Work with other departments to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley documentation is accurate and up to date.
Work to ensure accurate and timely completion of the quarterly reporting package.
Requirements:
2-5 years of financial analysis experience with an independent power producer, utility or with the energy related practice area of an accounting or consulting firm.
Thorough understanding of general accounting principles, financial statement analysis
Strong experience with hedging accounting, accounting analysis, Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance and reporting
An understanding of energy industry or Derivative Accounting. Exposure to electricity, natural gas, crude oil, heating oil, gasoline and emission trading.
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills. Strong Excel experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting. Master's / Advance Degree / CPA preferred.
