The firm has immediate openings in the Dallas office in the Commercial Real Estate group. In this role, individuals will be responsible for investing in and managing a portfolio of equity securities and debt instruments, including CMBS, B-Notes, mezzanine debt, whole loans and equity interests. Key Responsibilities • Manage all aspects of investment management for specific real estate investments, including initial underwriting and due diligence, acquisition, surveillance, asset management, workout and disposition. At this point in the market cycle, there is a heavy emphasis on restructurings and workouts. • Make specific investment recommendations and buy/sell decisions. • Interact with bankers, analysts, brokers, developers and other industry specialists. • Participate in the structuring, marketing and closing of new funds as needed. Qualifications
• JD or JD/MBA from well regarded school. • 10+ years experience in structuring and underwriting real estate investments, both from the legal perspective as well as an investment perspective. • Bachelor’s degree from a highly ranked academic institution. • Prior analysis/coverage of one or more of the following categories of real estate investments: CMBS, B-notes, mezzanine debt, whole loans and equity interests. • Experience in structuring transactions, as well as proactively managing and resolving investments, with preference to candidates with equity and/or REO experience. • Other professional certifications/affiliations are highly desired.
