The Senior Accountant will be a valuable member of the finance function in the accounting for and reporting of diverse investment activities. The sectors include Consumer & Residential, Commercial & Industrial, Special Opportunities and Latin American investments. The Senior Accountant must liaise with Investment Staff, Operations Analysts, Accounting Manager and peers to ensure investment activity is recorded accurately.
The position will require a candidate that is able to learn from previous experiences and apply accounting rules to make decisions independently, while communicating actively with peers and management. Responsibilities must be performed in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Principal Accountabilities
Maintain accounting records for investment activity in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures. Participate in the month-end close process and ensure various control/review procedures are completed on a timely basis. Complete quarterly and year-end financial reporting and tax requirements.
Actively liaise with the appropriate functional teams including Fund Financial Reporting, Operations, GAAP and Tax specialists, and Cargill Value Services regarding proper treatment of technical accounting issues.
Prepare and compile reporting deliverables as requested by Cargill and CarVal Investors management.
Participate in the annual audit by preparing audit schedules and other financial information requested by external auditors.
Actively participate and assist with projects and process improvement initiatives.
Skills

Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Minimum 5-7 years professional accounting experience
