The Political & Financial Risk Business a newly established underwriting operation within the Organisation. PFR is positioning itself to become a leader in the political and financial risk insurance market, and will be insuring against a diverse range of risks to protect contractual and property interests mainly (but not exclusively) in emerging markets. The main focus of the account will be trade and structured trade finance and the team's client base will consist of financial institutions (the majority), commodity traders, manufacturers and asset owners. Key accountabilities Appraisal of new enquiries, taking into account all aspects of risk including country, financial and structural elements. The production of appropriate appraisals of individual risks, which could range from a brief oral report to a fuller written analysis. Assistance with the setting and re-appraising the team's underwriting strategy and making qualitative and quantative recommendations as regards: - Countries.
- Sectors.
- Individual obligors.
Information briefing for the team based upon appraisal of events/strategic plans. Participation in client and broker meetings and liaison with these parties as appropriate. Conference attendance. Liaison with external information providers and analysts. Collaborate with overseas offices and/or project teams in order to provide a meaningful information flow. Review, structure and contribute to the underwriting of business in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Key relationships: - Brokers and customers within the Political & Financial Risks sector.

Qualifications and experience: - Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
- An excellent knowledge of/experience in trade/structured trade finance encompassing.
- Different sectors and commodity types.
- Structures.
- Industry participants.
- Good understanding of financial statements covering financial institutions and non-financial institutions.
- Excellent knowledge of emerging markets and attendant dynamics.
Strong analytical capabilities, both quantitative and non-quantitative and the ability to communicate these effectively orally and in writing.
